In 2004, Susan L. Orth was appointed by Governor Joe Kernan to serve as Judge in Floyd County's Superior Court, replacing retiring Judge Richard Striegel. Prior to her appointment, Judge Orth served for fifteen years in the Prosecutor's office. For eight of these years she was Floyd County's Chief Deputy Prosecutor where she earned a reputation for fairness and efficiency.
